In Response to The Hartford Auto Insurance,True/False?: It irks me no end every time I see the TV ads for the Hartford Auto Ins. sponsered by AARP. Save money? Not in my case. Now I am talking min. coverage for a 15yr old pick-up but when I initially got the Hartford I saved some cash, then after 2yrs I saw an increase for no reason that I knew of. I got some quotes out of curiosity and saw I was not getting the best deal possible, not by much so I went with it. Then the very next year I got another larger increase, again for no reason. No claims, no accidents, no violations, no nothing. Well I found this time that I could save $75 by switching to Allstate and to my surprise also get an increase from $30,000 to $50,000 and $50.000 to $100,000 on the basics of the coverage. Instead of $351 paid yearly to the Hartford, I now pay $136.66 every 6 months to Allstate for a better policy(and better service). I hope any who need auto ins. and "AARP" heed this. Posted by TomS29407 My experiemce was just the reverse. I called a bunch of companies including Allstate, and all were at least $200 a year more than the AARP. Ed
