In Response to Extended Warrenty: Well, it's actually called a Maintenance Agreement. We put in a new A/C unit about a two years ago. The installer has a maintenance policy for $129. a year. It covers 2 scheduled check ups, discount on parts and repairs, discounted service on weekend and holidays. One year warrenty on all paid repairs. Priority service. It's 90 degrees here with heat index over 100 most days. We are both on Oxygen and I have terribe allergies. We cannot be without A/C.. I bought the policy one year but I just don't know if it's worth buying again. That's a lot of money on an A/C that is practically new.. Any opinions welcome. Posted by Igotubabe Here are a few things you can do to make sure it runs right and keeps you from having problems. Be sure to change the filter every month especially during the summer months when it is in use 24/7. Pour a little clorox down the drain tube/hose each month to make sure the drain stays open, this can be done at the same time the filter is changed. Be sure to keep the return air vents for the AC in your house unblocked. If your main unit is outside, like mine, be sure to keep the area around the unit clear. If you know how or have a family member or friend who knows how have them clean the outside unit up each spring before you start using it. As for the maintenance agreement, how much does a yearly service charge run where you live? Compare that to the agreement cost because you should have it checked each year prior to having to use it or if you do what I said above at least have someone check the refrigerant. |
