AARP blew it with these guys, not senior friendly. If you don't ask the right questions you will have nasty surprises. There are no free minutes (ever), their base plan charges for what the Feds make

AARP blew it with these guys, not senior friendly. If you don't ask the right questions you will have nasty surprises. There are no free minutes (ever), their base plan charges for what the Feds make them give free (911 access, how does a dollar a minute sound to you?). If a couple has two phones on the same plan, and call each other BOTH GET CHARGED MINUTES!  YOU CAN DO BETTER WITH ALMOST ANY OTHER CELL PHONE COMPANY. With this comany you will have to buy many more minutes than you need.  AARP obviously did not look into this company's plans very well before endorsing it, or all they wanted was the royalty revenue.  Shame on you AARP, Seniors trust you to look out for them! AARP deals should really be deals.

So far, I have had no problems with Consumer Cellular and the rates are much lower than my prior carrier, AT&T.  I am paying approximately $35.00 a month for quite enough minutes, texts and data which would have cost me about $90.00 a month with AT&T.  So far, I am very happy with them.  Thank you, AARP, for alerting me to this company.

I was a Consumer Cellular (CC) customer for 10 years before I switched to Verizon in 2010...only because CC didn't offer a smart phone, messaging, etc. CC was so great to work with and I paid only $19/month. Now that my very expensive ($90/month until I recently negotiated down to $50/month), Verizon contract is nearly over, I have ordered a refurbished iPhone from CC and will only pay $19/month for the same call/message/data minutes that I had with Verizon. I loved to tell co-workers how little I was paying with no contract, and will be able to again with a smart phone, data, etc. Yes!!

WHAT A LOUSY COMPANY CONSUMER CELLULAR IS!  DONT BUY THEIR PHONE OR SERVICE.  I bought it for my mothr (89) for Christmas.  I bought it in November but didnt activate it until December 24th for Christmas gift giving.  We tried and tried to get the phone to work but apparently she was too far outside Chicago to get service.  After many cals to Consumer Cellular (AND A LOT OF TIME ON HOLD ) It was determine she lived outside of their range.  Finally got the phone returned and guess what ???Now I have to pay them $26.40 plus because we "used"the phone.  Ah, yes, we did TRY TO USE it but couldnt.    I HAD TO PAY FOR THE TIME IT SAT IN THE BOX BEFORE I EVEN ACTIVATED IT.   I can pay the money to them FOR NOTHING BUT AGGRAVATION, or continue to get late fees piled on the insult and a collection agency to boot

AARP  YOU BLEW IT.  THIS WAS ONE BAD BAD DEAL.   STAY AWAY FROM CONSUMR CELLULAR.
