Columbia Gas of Pa has filed a request with the PUC Commission for an increase in your natural gas distribution rates as of Nov 27, 2012.  The Company's rate requested an overall increase of $77.3million per year.  If approved the total bill for a residential customer who purchased 73 therms of gas from Columbia per month would increase from $67.17 to $82.92 per month or by 23.45%.

How can this be legal when senior citizens are on a fixed income and can hardly get the normal 3% increase each yr and of course then the Medicare insurance goes up by 2% or 21/2%

Is there anything AARP can do to file a request to reject this request from Columbia Gas of Pa.?
