In Response to How can I make some money?: For the first time in my life I am unable to pay rent and I feel ill about it. I know things are tough, for a lot of people, but it's not for lack of trying on my part. I am an artist but I can't seem to sell a thing I make. I have a website where people can buy my work, but when I try and sell with the intention of giving some of the proceeds away to animal charities or children's hospitals, I can't make a dime. Any ideas? Thanks. Posted by Adrienne20 Why don't you try to do some arts and crafts fairs - the local ones or see if you can put some work on consignment in a store where your work would fit the motif. As an artist, you have to build upon your work - develop your style - it is a process. You can do great work but without the avenues to sell it, it just sits there not creating income. Have you tried selling on Etsy? If you want to show your work on the web, that's fine but you have to get people (with money) to go there and that takes lots of effort and maybe some money too. Join some artist organizations - especially the marketing and selling ones - they often have a discussion board where artist can talk to each other about issues with marketing. Here's one: Art Fair Insiders There are also seminars and books on exactly this subject - selling your work. |
