|Everybody says cable tv bills are too high. Cable companies charge us what they want because they can; they have a monopoly in given locales. I live in a southern california city where Charter Communications has a monopoly to provide cable tv. So, I pay over $100 for basic cable and basic internet through Charter. When I called Charter to see if they offer a senior discount, I was told 'no'. Basic cable and internet should be treated like utilities, which offer seniors discounted rates. After all, many seniors rely on cable tv and internet for life-saving information and contact with the outside world. The AARP should fight for senior discounts with the cable companies.|
