I'm getting a little disturbed by the money wasted by AARP when it comes to my membership bill. My membership doesn't have to be renewed until June 31st but I've had at least three postal service mailing reminders since December to renew my membership already. It's April 4th.  In those notices no renewal date is provided - so that tells me that AARP is attempting and hoping we'll  be confused and pay our membership bill months in advance.  I'm sure there are people out there who forget when their expiration date is and pay their bill because they believe it's due -  possibly when not really being able to afford it that month.  I always believed that AARP was an orgnization looking out for seniors but in the area of membership I feel we are being manipulated. If we weren't, the expiraiton date would be in the letter! You're wasting our donations by distributing these series of mailings to seniors, rather than sending them  a month before like normal business practice. Who thought up this policy? How dare you waste our donations!

Although I also receive these notifications, perhaps the reason for the early mailings is so that the AARP member will have time to budget the cost of the renewal, rather than be forced to 'Pay' that month.  I personally appreciate the advance notice so that I can try to budget the cost into a month when I have less bills.  Perhaps AARP could note the renewal date, but then wouldn't we 'throw' away the notice because we have months until its 'due'?

To Mardrewes - You are absolutely Correct in your logic about AARP constantly stating that your account is due to pay!

Beginning last year I now receive 2 or 3 postal notices each month that my account will expire soon (I pay yearly).
I also receive 2 or 3 emails every week about my account expiring!

For DavidDnS - On 06/15/2012 I paid my Yearly account bill. I am receiving the same emails and postal notices about my account. I just canceled my account with AARP because I strongly believe IT IS A SCAM*

Bottom Line - AARP is more of a Political Group engaged in their Political Views for the Few .. Not for ALL Members of AARP in their Senior Years as They make it Appear to be.

Everyone has their reasons for what they choose to be Associated with. For me it is to see Seniors have Security and Piece Of Mind .. Not be victimized by nothing more than A Pick Pocket on the Streets of Metro USA*

If you have taken the time to read this ( Thank You ) .. I believe in RIGHT not Wrong .. Please Do Not look away when you see a Senior that needs just a little Help in the grocery store or in Public Places .. They will not ask for help .. If you are there with Them.. Just ASK .. You will be greeted with a Smile*
