In Response to President Obama Approves Extended Medicare Coverage For Chronic Conditions: Thousands of Medicare recipients with chronic conditions will soon have an easier time getting badly needed home health care, nursing home care and therapy. Thats because in a nationwide class action suit that removes the requirement that patients getting these services must show ' improvement " in their condition. This guideline shift, approved by the Obama Administration, would mean these services would be covered for Medicare recipients who need them to "Maintain "a level of functioning or prevent further deterioration, even If they aren't showing signs of improvement. Yeah, an improvement to help our disabled survive with dignity !!! Way to go Obama Administration !!! Posted by mandm84 I posted this on October 23 - see my post about the Judicial Ruling down below your post - Don't be so fast to give the President credit - he initially opposed it. |

In Response to Re: President Obama Approves Extended Medicare Coverage For Chronic Conditions: Does President Obama get any credit in your world ?Response to Re: President Obama Approves Extended Medicare Coverage For Chronic Conditions : Posted by mandm84 The lawsuit was brought by people against the implied rules of Medicare. A judge has rules in favor of the people; against these implied rules of Medicare. The President and HHS were against the people's case originally because 1. They said that it was not substaintiated 2. Medicare money concerns The administration HAD TO agree or continue a battle in court or the judge would have been forced to sign the order of compliance to Medicare. This actually has nothing to with with the President - it has a whole lot to do with Medicare and the rules within it. I have tried to ask questions of anybody here on how this ruling will affect the current financial condition of Medicare without making judgement - just opening up the discussion. I'm wondering what will be covered and for how long? We know it will cover therapy - occupational, physical, for speech I don't know. When cognitive damage happens, it may never come back and all the therapy in the world isn't going to change it so what will the coverage be? custodial? I was hoping we could discuss the actual workings of Medicare coverage in this regards without making it Dem or Repub. nor Obama/Romney or rich/poor/middle class -To me, this is a good example of "Best Practices" in medicine discussion and insurance participation in those medical decisions - cause what affects Medicare will sooner or later also affect private insurance coverage. If you note my initial post on this Judicial ruling - I made my questions apolitical. |
