The Associated Press has a Q & A from the Obama campaign camp on what ideas the current President is moving towards to help the financial condition of Medicare. AP 09/23/2012: Obama Medicare plan: No voucher but maybe a bill You can be your own judge. For those seniors that are not at poverty level - it is not going to be the Medicare as we once knew it under whomever is elected. We must start opening our pockets real wide. |

Posted by JANMB I posted a link to the article in my initial post - check it out. The answers were from the Obama campaign. I can also give you the Obama plan which he gave to the OMB last year when they were discussing the debt limit. It goes with his over all philosophy to make those WHO CAN pay more - it is just that "the rich" are not the only ones. The "rich" (or those that CAN) is defined differently under the Medicare program. He also realizes as do others that making senior beneficiaries have some "skin in the game" does keep down cost. Thus his plan includes a modification to Medigap policies - where they don't cover 1st dollar, or they contain co-pays and / or some deductibles. Read the link on his plan or I guess you can wait until Wednesday night and hear him say it. |

Obama professes to be for the middle class but then wants to eliminate government money for medicaid. The bulk of the people with Advantage is mainly middle class. The poor get Medicaid and the welathy do not need it. People in his beloved unions like teachers, autoworkers, police, after extended benefits after they retire and do not need advantage. I cannot believe AARP defens Obamacare and at the same tome bombards the airwaves with Advantage Plans. Many of the people who pay now may not be able to afford them by the time they need them. Shame on Obama for saying he cares about the middleclass (unions excepted) and shame on AArp. |

In Response to OMG can you believe this.: Our first taste of the new reality arrived today in the form of our Medicare Advantage Annual Notice of Changes for 2013. We are in shock. I guess I didn't believe all the warnings. This is only the beginning folks. The chart below doesn't even include the Medicare Premium which is deducted from our Social Security each month. This insurance company has always been fair and never have we received increases such as these. 2012 2013 Monthly premium $39.80 $62.00 Max out of pocket $3,400.00 $6,700.00 Specialists Visit $25.00 $35.00 In Hospital Stays 425/yr 650/stay Ambulance $100.00 $200.00 Emergency room $50.00 $65.00 CatScan $50.00 $100.00 Posted by mollyj42 The Ryan plan means MAJOR changes to Medicare. It would eliminate the Medicare guarantee and turn it into a voucher program. Studies have shown the Ryan plan would cost anyone under 55 years of age an additional $6,000 a year with a slow increase to $12,000 extra out of pocket in later years, and it moves eligibility for seniors to get Medicare from 65 to 67. Of course, he hasn't got a plan to get 20 million people back to work, to rob them of the $6000. ".....because the Ryan plan will literally lead to people dying" http://tinyurl.com/95egjd9 There is the Romney/Ryan logic.... increase the cost, delay giving the benefits. That way, some will die before the government has to give you back any of YOUR money you already paid to Medicare. Along with the Republicans plan to move the retirement age to 69, so many will die before ever getting any of the SSI money YOU paid in. But that's OK. Because while adding additional cost to health care, and working people till they die on the job, you get to pay the taxes for the rich, once Romney lets them off the hook. |
