In Response to Medicare Advantage Plans - Doctor participation with: My question is about doctors who accept Medicare assignments. Assume I sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan instead of Original Medicare. If a doctor accepts Medicare assignments, must the doctor also accept payments from all Medicare Advantage Plans in my region? Or does the doctor choose which Medicare Advantage Plans they want to participate with? Posted by grapevine42 Medicare Assignment has to do only with Traditional Medicare Medicare Advantage Plans of whatever type you choose in your area (HMO, PPO, etc.) have their own network of doctors and other providers that you must work with on your medical needs. Some of them could be also Traditional Medicare doctors but if you have a MA plan you work under the contract that you have in the MA plan. You usually have to use the medical provider on the MA plan list to stay in network of the plan. |
