I will be retiring next March at age 60, and was just told by my company, that my option to the current company health insurance (United Healthcare), will be Cobra for 18 months at $1080/month.

I will be retiring next March at age 60, and was just told by my company, that my option to the current company health insurance (United Healthcare), will be Cobra for 18 months at $1080/month.  Welcome to retirement!!  What if any alternative to Cobra are out there for us early retirees?

My husbands cobra will be $308.00 a month. We still can't afford it.  My arthritis is  effecting my work so I don't know how much longer I will be able to continue. Together we will only get $1800.00 a month. What with out other bills we will be forced to apply for medicaid   ( we live in Michigan)

Ypu might try joining and  posting in the Community forum  with the same title"insurance and Medicare" . Unfortunately many have the same problem and I don't have a solution, but maybe somebody in the 800 or so members do!
