The only suggestion I have is to contact the senior help(ship) in your state. most have such a dept. Another may be United Way. Dealing with agencies often requires a lot of perseverance and follow up which can be pretty discouraging as you know, but don't give up trying to get to higher levels. In Response to confusaed and needing some help with this new Medicare booklet, an some sort of Prescription drug plan....: Hello, My name is Donna L. Oglesby. I am to be 55 in Jan 2012 and My husband Paul just turned 61 in Augh 2011. We both have HAD Medicare since both of us are disabled. He is legally blind and I have RSDS in both legs and spinal arthritis. We reside in Northwest illinois. For the last 7 yrs we have been getting help with an illinois program called Illinois Cares/RX to help with the perscriptions which we both NEED, and now they say they can't hekp us anymore and Medicare perscriptions cancelled us both. Medicare says I owe them some 370.00 and that they canceled me dure to not paying them. I can't:-(. My Social Security was Cancelled April 2008 due to Them telling me that somehow THEY overpaid me, it was THEIR fault, and they say I will NOT get ANY sort of income from them til 2017. The ONLY income both of us HAD til last month, was a small 350.00 a month from a workman's comp claim I had, and Paul's less than 2,000.00 a month from Social Security. My case was settled, and 90 per cent of it goes towards Medicare set aside for the treatment of ONLY my legs concerning the RSDS, I can't pay medicare form ANY of that set aside money for ANY treatment to my back or any other issues I might have down the road. So NOW, we ONLY have what Paul gets with HIS social Security check. I'm sorry if all this sounds winded, but I am in deep stress wondering how we are going to pay the medications we both need, Now. Medicare sent us little booklets, with a 30.00 dollar a month payment that we have to mail to them, form each of us... Where are we supposed to get the money from?? Is there a Plan just for perscribtions that is assoc. with AARP for BOTH of us that we could afford, and still pay our bills and be able to eat each month?? Paul has a heart problem. He has a blockage on his left main vein in his neck, that showed up in tests 5 yrs ago, and the Meds he is supposed to be taking is for his cholestrol, as I am as well. Paul also HAS to take 5 different eye drops to help control the pressure in his left and remaining semi sighted eye for trewatment of his active Glaucoma... How are we supposed to afford this?? HELP!!!! Donna & Paul Posted by dloglesby57 |
