Posted by AARPGuide My point in posting this is you need to make your online user interface easier to use and more comprehensive to all coverages. I came online to get an accurate and fast comparrison to what I now have. If your are competatve enough I would take it to the next step. You also need to realize that anytime sales are commissioned, which I am sure those phone jockeys are commissioned based , you will get over aggresive indivuals trying to squeeze as much as they can out of their phone time. Taking on senior citzens this way just goes against my grain. I am young enough not to be intimidated but others may cave to something they do not want or need. Understand I am doing you a favor but telling you this because I could just as well go elsewhere with my business. This time may not work for you but perhaps the next time. And think of all those turned off by your methods and realize what you may be missing. Thank You |

Unfortunately AARP doesn't monitor their endorsees! My experience with AARP/UHG Med. D plan showed that if I persisted enough and finally got AARP's attention somebody might help with a problem. The first AARP contacts sent me back to try to deal with UHG ! |

I recently had a bad experience with Hartford auto insurance. I did not find them as a company who should be or are capable of working with a 55 and over community. My mother transposed numbers on a check to make her payment. The bill was for $461.00 and she wrote the check for $400.61. They cancelled her auto insurance. The cancellation letter was sent out 2 weeks after they received the check which was plenty of time to pick up a phone and call the error to her attention. Calls to the company were to no avail. I contacted the AARP office in Virginia and found them very helpful. THANK YOU!!! They had someone from Hartford contact me and eventually they agreed to reinstate her insurance. After gathering quotes from 4 other major insurance companies, we selected another company for $400 a year less. I caution anyone to settle with Hartford without checking out other companies. I hope AARP will check the satisfaction of Hartford customers before renewing the agreement you have with them. |

I was hoping AARP would be some kind of advocate on the side of us Seniors against unfair practices of auto insurers in general. From reading this thread I guess I'm out of luck there, so what's the point of joining? I just got my renewal notice from Progressive. $1500 for 6 months!!! That's almost double what it was last time. Their reason for this increase...... I commited a high crime.....of being Debt-Free. I have had not outstanding credit accounts for the last 20 years, and therefore that makes me a high risk on the road. ??????? I don't get their logic. Do you? I wrote to my insurance commissioner, my state representative and my Washington Congressman just today, so I don't know what will come of it. In the meantime I need auto insurance at a reasonable rate. Doesn't look like Hartford is a promising choice. |
