One of the best things I started was walking every morning, my daughter got me started as she is preparing for the Leukemia Run which is 26 miles. I thought well if she can do this I can at least try

Walking is a little boring, so I added a couple of hand weights. For some reason this makes me sweat a lot. Now I do what I call superwalking. It is very easy to do is not hard on the joints and increases flexability. For about 2 years I have been doing this. Air surfing is the best move. There is superman, lone ranger, Thor, Godzilla, etc. It looks weird. Dogs hate it. You will feel awsome afterwards. It costs nothing and the weights do a lot of the work for you. It gives you more energy then you started with. Kind of looks a little like dancing but who cares. Just start with some light weights. Cross your arms across your chest to start and then ask yourself what else can I do. No running just walk and do a hard move then an easy move. Stop when there is a dog they freak out. I have 18 basic moves that I do 70 reps of. It takes about 40 min. The moves are ARM CROSSING,  BELLY CRUNCH, CURL DOUBLE UP, SUPERMAN up up and away, SHOULDER PULL, OVER HEAD Mightor, GODZILLA, AIR SURFING which was Batman, ROBINS, LONE RANGER,  ONE CIRCLES FORWARD AND BACKWARDS each arm, SPIDERMAN, BIG CIRCLES BOTH ARMS to the Left then the Right. THOR, DOUBLE PUNCH or Bruce Lee, HULA HIPS, OVERSWING, SIDE SLIDES, and WONDER WOMAN which I stopped because it is hard on the hips. Got good muscles, lost some weight with no diet, 6 inches off the middle, everything got better from this weird walking.

Walking provides numerous benefits.  For nearly 25 years I've been walking my various dogs anywhere from 9 to 24 blocks a day.  The dogs and I stay healthy and look forward to this activity every day.  I am nearly 73 years old and have less cellulite than most 30-year-old women.  My skin has not begun to wrinkle until just recently because it has had the benefit of both exercise and fresh air.  Walking is an inexpensive activity that makes you feel and look good.  Go for it!  But don't forget comfortable running or walking shoes; they are essential.

I love walking! I normally walk about 100 miles per month. I usually walk in the morning because it gets me revved up for the day. In the summers in Minnesota, it is great to enjoy the beauty of nature outside with nice long walks with my dog. In the winter, I put on my winter traxs and still walk a shorter distance to make my dog happy but supplement my miles on the treadmill.  Walking has helped me to enjoy good health, keep my weight normal, and have a positive attitude.

I started walking every evening over 12 years ago when I got my new black lab mix puppy. She looked forward to it every single night and I wasn't really ever able to disappoint her. We used to do about 2 miles. Well, I have since retired and have the opportunity to walk in the  morning now instead. However my very old girl (12+ years) is arthritis ridden and can't do the distance any longer. She is still with us and love her dearly. I have decided to take the neighbors chocolate lab mix dog with me now. She is very much like my old girl. We walk every morning we can. Sometimes, here in Vermont, the weather prevents us but I don't like to walk inside on a treadmill any way. We walk about 1.5 miles. Love it, it is peaceful and a time just for me.
