I'm debating in my own head right now. I haven't talked to the dentist yet. But how do you know when you're ready for dentures? It's an emotional thing like finally admitting you need reading glasses...I don't know, I'm trying to get feedback about what it's like to have a full set of choppers.

When you're younger you obviously think one day you might wake up old with no teeth and the dentures magically soaking in a glass beside you. But obviously it's a process. I have many of my natural teeth, but most have been patched with fillings and bonding. I have maybe 6-8 now that have no composite-just natural teeth with no cavities.

I've had to put off repairs repeatedly because of the cost. One temporary fill from a root canal came out today. Others are in various states of chipping, breaking or decay. Thankfully nothing hurts...yet...edges will be sharp then break off to smooth. Any of you who don't have dental insurance know what I'm talking about. A second morgagage wouldn't pay for the dental work my husband and I need combined.

So would dentures be more logical in the long run? If I have heredity and eating habits that point to eventual toothlessness anyway??? Are they comfortable? Are they hard to fit? Do they stay in? Are they easy to clean? It seems more logical too in terms of appearance. I don't even look at my mouth open anymore never mind smiling mouth open.
Any feedback is welcome

i don't wear them but my mother does--and I know she had many many dentures which didn't fit well.
With the present one she is very happy. She is even SOMETIMES forgetting she has it
