However, they should ban production of know harmful substances. Actually sugar is one of them, and they can't take it away now.   Only education can cause us to self-regulate consumption. Actually my beverages of choice include coffee, diet pop, and water. You may find references to all 3 suggesting problems and benefits for all 3. The conclusion of the article you cited raises many doubts about its validity. For an overview you may want to read the following.

Guess I am not very concerned. Keep in mind that the air you breathe may be a source of cancer also.
