Do you think seniors are being taken advantage of by casinos? I asked a group of seniors how many times they went to a film last year. Answers: mostly zero to 3. Same group, how may times to the casino. Answer: 100, 85, 52. Casinos send buses to ship them to their businsses The ride is long. Some people say it's social. That may be a justification. There are many, many other social activities available. Viewing the casinos in my area, 80% of the gamblers are seniors in the daytime on weekdays; 90% on the weekends. I'm concerned that seniors are letting themselves be taken advantage of by an industry known to be not that ethical and by an activity known to be addictive. |
