My husband's employer does not provide Health Insurance. I was laid off 4 yrs. ago. Our county benefits say we are not eligible to get help because we have too much in "assets". (We have IRA and pension savings). So who will decide within each state what "affordable" will mean? Looks like we will be one of those who will have to purchase our own. We are currently prayin that we don't get sick.

Of all the sites ....this one is the best for information in my opinion.   The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.

Maybe you can find your answers there.....

4-years ago is a very long time.
You don't give any details as to your age or any pre-exisiting condition so I can only say check with an independent health insurance agent (one that knows a lot of plans in your area).

Yes, if you were looking for Medicaid from your state - all assets count.
