I am new to medicare healthcare and just realized how much seniors are being affected by the lack of medical providers in the system. I had the hardest time finding a primary care provider and even a facility to get my mamogram. My plan is the "AARP Medicare Complete" through United Healthcare and can be used as an HMO or POS. The problem is that most of the medical providers on the list are no longer accepting Medicare patients. They have all opted out of the program at the end of last year. If this keeps happening what good is medicare or any of the supplemental plans??? |

But, I am sure you are not alone with this problem. When I see the full page ads for hospitals, and the brand new hospital buildings for millions of dollars, and the wealthy pharmaceutical industry, etc. I am sure this country can do better. Do we really want health care to be only for the wealthy?? |

But I have heard this coming from people in varies parts of our country....that Primary-care doctors are overworked and in short supply. Maybe the ones qualified for med school shouldn't have to go into such debt .....and they get discouraged. I don't know if it's true---but I heard its difficult to get into med school. . |

Posted by smott46 You have a Medicare Advantage Plan HMO/POS - don't they give you a network of doctors in your paperwork? When you call a doctor, you should not ask if they accept MEDICARE - you ask them if they accept you Medicare Complete UHC Plan. Why did you pick this plan anyway? You need to understand your plan. An HMO POS is a Health Maintenance Organization with a Point of Service Option. An HMO POS is a Medicare Advantage Plan that is a Health Maintenance Organization with a more flexible network allowing Plan Members to seek care outside of the traditional HMO network under certain situations or for certain treatment. A Member may pay some additional fees for using the POS (out-of-network) option. |
