When Does the Health Care Reform Start

I am 51 and disabled. I wanted to know when someone like my wife can get covered on this new health care reform ? We are on a very low income and cannot afford health insurance or dental or vision. My wife needs coverage very badly and I also need dental and vision. Why does all this reform take so long? and when will we get relief? |

Cliff66- Depending upon your income, you (and perhaps your wife) might be a candidate for MEDICAID - check with the social services department in your state. If you have been on Social Security Disability (NOT SSI - Supplement Security Income) for (2) years, you can apply for MEDICARE. Your state probably has a high risk pool for health insurance coverage - premiums are paid on this coverage and I am pretty sure most states don't cover dental or vision. There is also the state insurance pool set up under Obamacare for those with Pre-existing conditions and who have been uninsured 6-months. Again there are premiums to be paid here and some are rather hefty in price. Some states have dental covered under MEDICAID - if you can find a dentist that will accept what the program pays for services.  MEDICAID in your state might be the best place to check 1st to see if you (and possibly your wife) qualify.Good Luck in your search |
