Jim, Obamacare saves $716 billion over 10 years. Romney has the number right, just everything else false. AARP is fighting for US. Dont believe me, go to the Non - Partisan " Congressional Budget Office " and dont get all your news from Fox. Response to Re: AARP stop supporting Obama Care :

Obama tries to steal 716 billion from Medicare for his program, but he ignores it is medicare money not his personal account to spend as he wishes. Also the savings he claims is not just from cutting fraud, for you need to look deeper where benefits are cut for seniors. He may need to borrow the line from Nixon - "I am not a crook".

OH YES HE IS.

AARP supports Obamacare and I definately will not being supporting AARP!! My subscription to AARP  ends as of October 12,2012 and it will stay that way.  AARP has not saved me one dollar on anything they offer and then they want to back a president that has utterly destroyed the USA.  My insurance premiums have already started to increase because of the unconstitutional dicision of the suprime court and then make it a tax.  BOOO AARP BOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I am done with you.

Personally I am angred that they have supported this program which may benefit AARP and hurt many of us seniors. AARP may lose many members if they continue with this approach. It seems they are spending more time trying to sell us something with the most outrageous being Obamacare. I will be fighting AARP on this issue as I fight the Democratic party (aka abortion party).

This is what you will get with Obama Care! Check the link below!!
Also I assume everyone knows doctors have 2 software applications that must be installed on the pc so at anytime the gov. wants to see your medical information all they have to do is log on to the doctors pc. My wife went to our  Internist for a checkup and the doctor said the gov. wants to know if our home has THROW RUGS!!! So I guess the gov. is now going to tell me how to furnish my home!! I assume if we should fall or trip on the rugs the gov. won't pay our medical.
Obama has to get out of office!

In Response to AARP stop supporting Obama Care:
AARP should not be supporting Obama Care. The responsibility of AARP is to support its membership. 1. Obama Care plans on taking billions away from medicare acting like a thief in the night, stealing from Medicare to support another program not supportive of medicare recipients. 2. Obama Care will lead the US to bankruptcy since it is not a program adequately funded. 3. Obama Care will reduce the benefits of Medicare programs. 4. Obama Care supports programs that many of us do not support, such as abortion. 5. Obama Care is already making assaults on the beliefs of Religions in trying to make them provide coverage which goes against their teachings. 6. It has been claimed in the policies that will come forward people will have to contribute to abortions if they want certain coverage. This becomes a moral attack against many. 7. It has been claimed that AARP supports Obama Care because it gains money in the insurance programs it provides. This is not for the betterment of your membership but only for the profit taking of AARP. 8. Obama Care dictates to individuals what they must do which goes against Americas principles of individual rights. It is already being challenged and is before the Supreme Court regarding the constitutionality of this act. 9. You have started a program saying where we can speak out on Medicare and Social Security, but in this case you have gone forth supporting an act without providing the same concern about this act. 10. The economy is bad so it is not a time to come forward with an act which will need to demand more from those that our working, as many companies are looking at bailing out of healthcare because of this act. 11. We have frightening national debt, yet this act will make the debt worse since it dose not have the money to support it. 12. Medical costs need to be controlled before the government jumps into a situation where the costs have gone wild. 13. Many of us on medicare will lose when this law takes complete control. 14. Medicare selections will likely be diminished and many of us will lose options we have selected. AARP consider your membership and do not support this act which is not supporting us who have paid into social security and medicare for so many years and are now receiving or will soon receive its benefits. Medicare and Social Security may be called entitlements but unlike some others they are entitlements which we have earned. You are contributing to a situation where we could lose both. As of right now Social Security is the largest holder of the national debt. With Obama Care we should expect both Medicare and Social Security to become bankrupt. AARP stop supporting this act before we start dropping our memberships since you no longer our looking into our best interests but rather goes against moral and American principles.

Dear JimR45,
You seem to be against the new healthcare bill and your list, under numbers 4 and 5 , is about abortions. I , for one, do not favor abortions, but, also do not favor the state paying for support for children born to drug-addicted mothers.
And, I have yet to hear of any religious group who opposes abortions, actually offer to pay to raise the children they want to bring into the world.

As for bankruptcy you need to become aware of how many Americans are already declaring bankruptcy due to medical bills. Work all your life, save for retirement, and then, declare bankruptcy ?Is that your plan??

Choices for many Americans have already been taken away. Many employers do not offer health benefits, and people do not go to their doctors regularly. And, the emergency rooms are bogged down with the uninsured. How can you rest at night, knowing that when you need emergency care you may have to wait too long to get it?? Is that your plan for your own medical care, even if you have great insurance />???

Those who oppose the new healthcare laws are those who have had good insurance for many years, and that is great. But, we can no longer have so many millions uninsured!! Healthcare should no be just for the wealthy in this country or in any other .

Peace.

In Response to THE LIES--DISTORTED INFORMATION ABOUT OBAMACARE:
Stumping in Florida today, Mitt Romney charged President Obama's Affordable Care Act will "cut more than $700 billion" out of Medicare. What Romney didn't say was that his running-mate's budget -- approved by House Republicans and by Romney himself -- would cut Medicare by the same amount. The big difference, though, is the Affordable Care Act achieves these savings by reducing Medicare payments to drug companies, hospitals, and other providers rather than cutting payments to Medicare beneficiaries. The Romney-Ryan plan, by contrast, achieves its savings by turning Medicare into a voucher whose value doesn't keep up with expected increases in healthcare costs -- thereby shifting the burden onto Medicare beneficiaries, who will have to pay an average of $6,500 a year more for their Medicare insurance, according an analysis of the Republican plan by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Moreover, the Affordable Care Act uses its Medicare savings to help children and lower-income Americans afford health care, and to help seniors pay for prescription drugs by filling the so-called "donut hole" in Medicare Part D coverage. The Romney-Ryan plan uses the savings to finance even bigger tax cuts for the very wealthy. Spread the word. Don't allow the GOP to get away with this demagoguery. ROBERT B. REICH, Chancellor's Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, was Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration. Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the last century. He has written thirteen books, including the best sellers "Aftershock" and "The Work of Nations." His latest is an e-book, "Beyond Outrage." He is also a founding editor of the American Prospect magazine and chairman of Common Cause.

The post is correct in that the federal money spent on Medicare will be reduced, however, the money reduced will be left in the medicare trust fund for future medicare expenses, rather than given to the "great obama give away". There is no doubt that the cost of medical care needs to be reduced. Obamacare does just the oposite in that it mandates "hidden taxes" on all forms of medical devices and drastically increases the cost of doing business for providers. It also encourages abuse of the system. Large hostpitals will make a killing on special programs like 340B drug rebates but your private doctor will most likely either stop taking Medicare patients or go out of business.

i went to gov. web site to check on health insurance options under Obamacare because i am a veteran it instructed me to sign up for medical care through the VA.
BUT if NOT 40% service connected or greater would have to pay..many may say what is the big deal with the amounts. please be clear EVERY time you end up in the hospital you pay....you have to be 100% service connected for long term care and then the va still makes you sign up for medicare and go to a medicare nursing home.
 Outpatient Copays
  • Primary Care Services: $15
  • Specialty Care Services: $50
  • Prescriptions:
    • 30-day or less supply for certain Veterans: $8
    • 30-day or less supply for higher income Veterans: $9

Inpatient Copays

There are two inpatient copay rates, the full rate and the reduced rate.

Priority Group 7 and certain other Veterans are responsible for paying 20 percent of VA's inpatient copay rate.

  • Inpatient Copay for the first 90 days of care during a 365-day period……………$231.20
  • Inpatient Copay for each additional 90 days of care during a 365-day period……………$115.60
  • Daily Charge……………$2/day

Priority Group 8 and certain other Veterans are responsible for VA's full inpatient copay rate.

  • Inpatient Copay for the first 90 days of care during a 365-day period……………$1,156
  • Inpatient Copay for each additional 90 days of care during a 365-day period……………$578
  • Daily Charge……………$10/day

How can AARP SUPPORT Obama care when Obama care takes 741 billion dollars away from medicare?  In 2014 we will be losing over 200.00 per month from our Social Security income.  Could someone please explain the sanity of this decision by AARP???????

Apparently you haven't been paying much attention. The $714billion does not come from Medicare Benefits, it comes from tightening up and cleaning up the government beaurocracy behind it. Isn't that what we want? Clean up the programs we have? Make them work? And isn't one of the concerns about the Affordable Healthcare Act about how it will be paid for? Well there's $714billion right there. You are listening to the GOP (Grand Obstructionist Party) that has already told everyone they will do and say ANYTHING to get Obama out of the Whitehouse since day-1, before he even had a record to look at. So do you think that anything Obama does that is actually good would be supported or admitted by them? How could you not know this and sit back and watch it unfold over the last 3.5 years???

First of all:  including a 'LINK" in your comments to make people beleive you are providing proof of your claims, (because you know that most won't likely actually click on it) is a DISPICABLE right wing practice, most notably used in all their viral emails they send around stating, "And you can believe that it this is true because it says so in SNOPES.COM".  And for the fraction of a percent who actually check Snopes, they find out the statements are almost always FALSE. Truly dispicable, degrading, and insulting to the readers.

Now, to those reading this posting by 'gymdandee' - as you can probably see where I am going with this, his link says nothing to support his comments as he would have you believe.

Secondly, that web site "Smart Money", is part of the whole WAll Street Journal / Murdock / FauxNews / NewsCorp empire anyway, so you cannot take what they DO say with even a half a grain of salt. They all got their marching orders from the Grand Obstructionist Party (GOP) to get that BLACK MAN out of their WHITE HOUSE.  They have to say or do anything and everything possible to him, about him, and any person or entity that supports him. Even though this country is a democracy, and the majority elected him, and he IS DOING WHAT we elected him to do - except where the GOP is preventing him.
Fascism will come wrapped in a flag and carrying a Bible. ~ Sinclair Lewis 1935Do you remember that quote warning against Fascism? Well those GOP candidates just smear both of those all over themselves. Do you know what Fascism is? Most people actually don't - they just know it is bad. But look it up in Wikipedia, if it weren't for the names and dates you'd actually think you were reading about the Republicans of today.

You cannot explain the sanity because there is none.   I cancelled my AARP when it became obvious that AARP was supporting Obama and his Obamacare!
