I use 3000mg of Fish oil per day together with a natural food plant capsule called 'CholestOff'. I use 4 1000mg tablets per day which help to keep my cholesterol.down. On top of that I use a combination of Olive oil and Canola oil two to three times per week (1 tbspoon). I also do 30 minutes walking 3 times per week and gardening almost every day. I only eat fish and sometimes deskined chicken with other things like veggies and fruits. I am 5' 71/2:" and weigh 138 lbs. I am a Senior Citizen.

There were several network T.V. reports recently which stated that studies have found no positive (or negitive) effect from taking fish oil in tablet form. The new reports did state that there was some indication that fish oil taken as a result of eating fish did seem to have positive results. Salmon seems to be the prefered fish.

Certain genetic profiles do not get the benefit of fish oils. If anything, they raise cholesterol in certain cases. It's best to do blood testing that determines whether or not you benefit from it.

In Response to Re: Fighting cholesteral using fishoil:
Remember that fish oil thins your blood. Because everyone's body chemistry is different, we all respond to it differently. If you find that fish oil is not working, you can also try borage oil and safflower oil as well as olive oil. Instead of fish oil, there are the omega 3/6/9 mixes and krill oil. Fish oil works for me, but my husband has to use borage oil. For the original person saying that his cholesterol is 84 and should be 70, I think he mistyped it. 170 is a normal low cholesterol. 70 seems way too low. Which cholesterol is he referring to. We do need some cholesterol in our bodies. Remember that there are good and bad cholesterols. They have done studies that indicate that it is not the total cholesterol in our body, but the good to bad ratio. This is not a quick fix, so give yourself a few months to make sure it works or doesn't work

It is essential to good health to consume  oils, some essential vitamins are NOT water soluble and need oil to be released for use in the body.

Lethicin capsules also help lower cholesterol.
I first heard of it in the 70's while working in CCU.  One of my coworkers' husband had a cholersterol reading in the 1000s in his 20's.  He started on it and in a month or two was already down to less than 500.
That is when I also heard that the creases in your earlobes correlate to the damage in your heart.  Left to left side  and right to right side.  No one knew why, these were just old time doctors who used 'folklore' with science.  NOW science is finding them right.  lol
