Where were you when you heard the news about the Sept. 11 attacks? I lived in DC back then and saw the second tower get hit on live TV. Then on my drive to work, I heard news that the Pentagon was struck, too. Scary times indeed.

Do you have any special activities or trips to memorial sites planned? The benches and memorial at the Pentagon are very touching and powerful to visit. I have yet to go to Ground Zero in NYC to see the memorial of names and all the new construction. Nor have I been to the site in Shanksville, Pa. Looks like 9/11 has really turned into a Day of Service for volunteering .... and something really positive has emerged from such pain, darkness and loss. God bless the families and friends of the heroic people who lost their lives that day.

In Response to Remembering Sept. 11:

I worked in midtown Manhattan then, but had taken the week off to get my son settled into preschool in our New Jersey hometown. In his class of 10, five parents -- including my husband -- worked in or near the World Trade Center. None were harmed. Turned out many parents had taken the day off or had gone in late. My husband left late for work that day. Since the attacks had occured while he was en route, his subway was diverted away from the Trade Center. Still, upon arriving in the city, he had to run from the smoke cloud. The events of 9/11 made us feel so lucky to have not been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Had I been in Manhattan that day, my husband and I would have both been stranded in the city without an easy way to get home to our son. Several residents of my town never made it home. A few days later I learned that a college boyfriend was also killed in the attacks. I can't believe it's been 11 years.

I lived in Covington, Tn but worked in Memphis. I was at work when I got the news from co-workers coming back from breaks and people receiving phone calls. I remember the state of shock we were all in and most of us were crying and hugging. It is hard to believe its been 11 yrs. It is so fresh in everyones mind. We always remember that it happens to "other countries". But it happened on US soil. That was a wake-up call for me. I've never ceased to be afraid since then and look at foreigners in a whole different light. Maybe thats wron, but its how I feel. I pray for our nation and the whole world. God is Good and will take care of His people. Thats a given.

I was in Rochester, NH, recovering from surgery.  A woman who came to help me with my house chores came to the door and immediately said "Turn on your TV"....When I turned it on, one plane had already hit and the second one looked like a bird flying toward the second building...it was surreal.  It was difficult to imagine what had actually happened at the time.  We were devasted, my husband, myself and my helper  just could not grasp the true significance of the moment but we never forgot that image.  So much has happened since then, and we pray each day never to witness such inhuman destruction again.  After this event there were so many heroic stories of true human bravery and caring.  However,  evil still lives in this world and we need to be prayful and vigilent or our way of life will surely be destoyed.

Can anyone at AARP tell me why I should trust their assessment of Obamacare when AARP is so far up Obamas ass?

Too bad Obama is such an Islamic appologist. They kill us and it's our fault? This recent attack on 9/11 was a planned inside job at the embassy. As usual, Obama let his guard down and now there are more 9/11 casualties.I wish AARP would end it's brown nosing with the Obama administration.
