In Response to Giving Back: My children are all grown and on their own. I have a full time job, but am looking for some fulfillment in my life. I'm wondering if anyone knows of an organization or where I can start looking for some volunteer work in the Roslyn, New York area................Gigi Posted by Gigi1251 I volunteer at a local animal rescue organization (a non-profit) and I love it. You can be involved directly with the animals- which is theraputic for the animals AND you. Or you can help in many other ways, fund raising, landscaping, giving tours, spay/neuter and animal care education, computer and office tasks, etc. It's also a good way to meet new people and to find a wonderful new pet for your home. |

The locator is really easy to use. Try it at http://www.createthegood.org If you'd like to get involved with AARP, there are a number of local chapters in your area. Here's an easy tool for locating them. Kim |

I think a lot of opportunities comes from volunteering. My blog is for Baby Boomers managing their careers and I think people should consider volunteerism. http://workinglater.blogspot.com/2011/06/volunteering-leads-to-new-career.html |

In our area we have RSVP for age 55 & over with about 30 places to volunteer. I have chosen a Gateway Thrift store and enjoy it. I joined the Kiwanis club in my town. We do a lot of community work and also work with the Key Clubs and Builder Clubs in the schools. Go to the Kiwanis Website and put in your zipcode to find a club in your area. What usually happens you attend a meeting to see if you would like the club. I am starting my 5th year with them.
