Sorry AARP, but you are not representing our interests. Cancel my membership, unless you start taking care of seniors for real. I have worked and paid into social security for 49 years and you decide, for your own gain, to speak out of both sides of your mouth, stating you are against cuts but conducting back-room meetings to cut Social Security.

Well, not on my dime, and I will work tirelessly to shed light on your hypocritical agenda.

WASHINGTON -- Two separate campaigns have been launched to pressure AARP to stand firm against cuts in Social Security and Medicare benefits. The campaigns follow a report by HuffPost that the influential senior citizens lobby will soon be holding a private, principals-only "salon-style conversation" with a host of advocates of entitlement cuts.

"Once again, AARP is working behind the scenes to build support for benefit cuts while masquerading about as an ardent defender of the safety net to its massive, dues-paying membership," reads a petition from the progressive blog FireDogLake.com. "This is outrageous, and AARP should immediately call off the event and disavow this shameful attempt to throw its weight behind benefit cuts."

I am disgusted by AARP's this back stabbing by the Board of AARP and that SOB Barry Rand  the CEO of AARP.  A meeting that is "off the record" which can only mean that we are being stabbed in the back by the Board and the CEO.  When these jackasses get caught they run and then say had no intention of undermining Social Security or Medicare but in reality folks they are our Bennedict Arnold: traitors.  I will be using my Facebook, Twitter or Yahoo internet accounts to call on all member to take this organization over and DIRECT IT TO THE DIRECTION THAT WE EXPECT IT TO FOLLOW AND THAT IS TO DO OUR BIDDING AND PLEDGE TO DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES OR IN ANYWAY OR MAKE ANY SECRETIVE DEALS WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, K-STREET MINIPULATORS OR THE CRIMINALS OF WALL STREET. Having to learn of this secretive meeting with the very people who want to KILL Social Security and privatize Medicare.

Me thinks you have had a wee bit too much of green suds today. I refer you to "You've Earned a Say" kicking off Monday, March 19th. Make you voice heard on Medicare and Social security. AARP will provide straightfroward information about Medicare and Social Security proposals that are being debated in Washington and on the campaign trail. The pros and cons without political jargon and spin. Get involved instead of whining.

Time for people to start really understanding some of the ideas that are being kicked around by BOTH parties to financially help out both Social Security and Medicare.

(Whatever) changes to the Social Security system are for down the road - new beneficiaries coming on board in 2036 or later. It has got to be shored up financially for the long term -

President Reagan did it in the 80's - your benefits today are based on his efforts to shore up the system back then for new beneficiaries today.

Medicare (Part A & B) is being tweaked now in manners and methods to help preserve it - Medicare is definitely the more serious financial concern.

Start reading and getting the facts before you go off on a tangent.

We deserve to know all the options politicians are putting on the table and have earned a say in any conversation about future of Medicare and SS. Make sure your voice is heard in any debate about the future of Medicare and SS. I know the hot term is, "Transparency" and gets a lot of lip service but in this matter it is utmost in keeping us appraised and the politicians from making deals that are not in the best interests for us or the future.

The tax increases of the 80s could have made social security solvent.  However that solvency is based on the idea that the funds we invested in a trust fund.  They were not.  Anyone collecting social security now is living off of money borrowed from China as well as current and shrinking income from the current tax.  So what are you to do?  How about getting mad?  Kicking out both the Democrats and the Republicans, scaling back government, and accepting personal responsibility for your own retirement.

100 years ago our extended families cared for their elderly.  If your kids won't do so now that is a direct reflection upon the parent and society.  We all know the story of the ants and the grass hopper.  Which are you?

I have cancelled my last subscription. When they mailed me my renewal I told them how I felt about backing Obama Care. I don't know if it was forwarded to the right person but canceling my subscription should do.

I saw a new AARP television commercial yesterday.  The message is that AARP does not want to see any changes in Medicare or Social Security benefits for this generation or for all future generations.

So, now AARP is not really an advocate for retired people but even for the unborn who will someday be retired.  I wish someone from AARP would also explain how Medicare and SS would possibly remain fully intact forever.  It's obviously not possible and even AARP execs must understand this.

The obvious conclusion is that AARP is not truly an advocate for retired people but rather for whatever supports the federal government agenda.   The execs appear to be a bunch of Obama lackeys.
