Go to accessories and games. You like the added sound. F4 gives statistics and F3 lets you choose game numbers. Karl In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable? : Oh, that explains it! So now I have to go looking for Free Cell on this computer. I have Windows 7, but I haven't gone looking for games. I do enjoy being able to replay specific hands of Free Cell. Posted by ash81052 |

In Response to Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: No, all freecell games are not winnable. To prove this, I will describe a hand that is clearly not winnable no matter how you play. Consider by random draw, eventually every possible combination of cards will eventually be dealt. The suit doesn't matter in showing the following unsolvable hand: A A A A 7 7 7 7 2 2 2 2 8 8 8 8 9 9 9 9 6 6 6 6 K K K K 5 5 5 5 Q Q Q Q 4 4 4 4 J J J J 3 3 3 3 T T T T (T = 10) No matter what cards you put up in the hold area, you can not get to the Ace to start racking up the cards nor can you move any cards to another column to get at cards higher in the column where cards would be taken from. As you can see, there are at least several combinations of a deal where the stack is not solvable. Jeffcell I am a Free Cell addict. Years ago when I first learned to play Free Cell I was told that all games were solvable. Based on that, I would sometimes spend hours trying to solve certain Free Cell games. And I was always successful. The satisfaction that I felt upon finally winning, made the effort all worthwhile. That was until now. Now there is a game that I cannot solve. It seems impossible to win. I have already invested 3 days trying to solve this particular game. Before I invest any more time, I need to know for certain, was I misinformed or ARE ALL FREE CELL GAMES WINNABLE??? Posted by phenomenalwoman323 |

Karl In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable? : Posted by krlklar I'm up to 12648 ! The 'unsovable one" I encountered was in the 11 thousands. i found that by using the "undo" button you can go back if you reach an impasse instead of turning off the computer.

In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: All games are winnable out of the first 32000 except for one. My question is this? You get 260 points for solving the freecell on the AARP game. You also get one point per second bonus for any unused time of your original 10 minutes or 600 seconds. Suppose you immediately solved the game. That 260 points for solving and 600 points for unused seconds for a grand total score of 860 points. Please tell me how you can score 865 points which is the alleged record for the game. Thanks. Posted by mrthatche Never played on AARP ,but that's a good question ! karl |

There are a couple of ways to avoid a loss on record, One is to shutdown the computer when faiure is imminent before you make all possible moves. Another is to use the UNDO to go back and start from a point where there are still openings for at least one card in the left box and try again. Karl lIn Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: I don't like one feature of free cell - if you want to replay, the game still counts as a loss. I think it shouldn't be counted if you replay and win. Posted by Gyatri100 |

THe undo works for me to go back and try again although some times it'sw easier to shut down the computer with the game still on and restart again. I also am going though each number and with one exception I solved all up to 12800. Karl In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable? : Glad to know I am not the only one who is quirky enough to start at #1 to make sure I don't play the same game over. I have gotten to #4847 and won them all. Some it took more than one try to get. One game it took 13 tries to get. Now I get most of them in one try. Also, the secret of not having it count against you when you know you can't win the game the way you have played it is to keep hitting Ctrl-Z until the cards go back to where you want to start a different strategy. In Response to Re: Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable?: In Response to Is it true that all Free Cell games are winnable? : I don't know. I tried starting at game #1 and got as far as 356, and won them all. What's the number of the game you can't win? I'll give it a try. Posted by Gyatri100 No they are not. If you google free cell, the message will tell you which games are not winable (if that's a word) I have been playing Free Cell for years and can conquer most every game eventually, but the ones listed to not be solvable...well, so far they are right. However I keep a list of them and will return from time to time...just in case. :-) |
