Rules for Sudoku

I'm at a loss to understand how the scores are determined for this game. Am I racing against the clock only?  Or is using or not using the clues taken into consideration?  Can't find any guidance for playing  sudoku anywhere on site.

Well!  I've discovered ithat using ALL hints, and the block - as opposed to using none of them- makes absolutely no difference to my score!  Nor does the time I take to solve the game. If I get the correct solution, either way, my score is 810.  How in the world do some people get  higher scores?
