In Response to Re: New Game Area Redesign: What do you think : Thanks for the link to NabiscoWorld, libra!  I absolutely love their Backgammon game, and if I can ever drag myself away from playing "just one more game," then someday I'd like to try some of the other games, too.  The board is small, but it's such a pleasure to play against a computer opponent who not only plays well, but doesn't cheat!

Ash glad you're enjoying the Backgammon on that site. Pretty addictive. Laughing

At this point I'd be happy to get any games.  Every time Ii try to access games I get a "diagnostic problem".  I have tried  deleting history, etc.  Enabiling cookies, downloading java to no avail.

My husband and I have been playing these games for many years.  Please help.

The Yarnz game has some sort of bug.  The balls and lever are VERY jerky.  I used to love this game, but really can't play it anymore.  The balls also drift.
On the other hand. I like the crossword expert game--the scoring seems better.

The redesigned games run much less smoothly and are more difficult to see.  They come across as very shoddily designed.   The Treasure Hunt Game often gets stalled.  When you click a gem to change places with another it often sticks, as if the game has developed "arthritis" or creaky joints.  In addition, the arrow linking to an add appears on the board pieces,  further slowing you down as you try to avoid clicking on the arrow and opening the add.  As this is a timed game of speed these impediments are very frustrating.  They are not challenges built into the game but flaws in the program.  I once tried to remove the ad arrow, but it took several steps and it was finally too discouraging.  In frustration I found some other websites with similar games involving matching three or more jewels, with wonderful graphics, music and much more  smoothly running systems.  They are Jewelanche, Ancient Jewels and Ancient Jewels 2:  The Mysteries of Persia.
The Mah Jong games such as Mah Jong Garden and Mah Jong Dimensions used to be my favorites but now have similar problems.  The pieces are very small and the movements are very jerky.  Here are two smoothly running  sites with much larger tiles which are  easier to see:   Mahjong at FREEGAMES.ws and Mahjongg Game Flash  They will bring back some of the enjoyment of the game.

I'm so glad to see someone besides me has that annoying blue arrow appear in the middle of the game. It is very distracting. This arrow is a hold over from the ad that you have to watch before the game begins and should not be on the game. It is to allow you to opt out of being tracked by certain ads. Going through the proceedure to "Opt Out" does not affect the blue triangle appearing in the game. I have found another game site in which some players are complaining of this so it is not specific to AARP. I suspect it has to do with some incompatibility with "Flash" and the site or the browser.

What computer are you using and what browser. I use a Macintosh running System 10.6.8 and the Firefox vs. 12 with the most current version of Flash. Some of the other problems you are having are not universal because the games run great on my computer. I do have had problems whenever the AARP pages are being updated. That is when the web people are changing the design of the headers or the leaderboard. I also have some problems after I have been playing for a while and have opened and closed a lot of game windows in rapid succession. When this happens I "quit" my browser and then reopen. This seems to solve my problem.

This is a screen image of what I'm talking about when I say "Blue Triangle". I circled it in red. The image should enlarge when you click on it.

The two games I play, Disco bowling and Carniball, are working right now due to the latest change AARP made, I guess that is why they are working right. They are not erratic anymore.

I still do not like having to go through a couple of steps to play another game and wait the five seconds.

I dislike the wait time and do the following:

I open two windows, both playing the same game. The window size can be decreased by pulling in the corner so that only the game area shows.

I stack the windows so that the edge of the second one shows at the side of the top one.

I leave the bottom window at the point where I have to "Click here to Play Now".

When I finish the top game or decide its not going to give me a high score I do the key combination to restart the game (Command "R") and switch to the bottom window and click to begin that game.

While I am playing this game the bottom game is going through the 5 second ad thing but I don't have to watch it.
