Why can I never,ever increase my score?Even if I complete a game,I can't win nor show an increased score.Does anyone else have that problem,or am I just doing something wrong?Is there a secret that I don't know?I do know that one needs to try to get 4 bears consecutively.What else? |

There are quite a number of tile match combinations that will increase your score. See my post under the message heading: Mahjongg Strategy. Another way is to increase your speed of making matches so that you come out with more bonus time. |

I just love the game. i also play it on my phone. |

"How do I reach your message re: Strategy?" Go back to the main "Games" heading in the Message area. In the right corner just above the listing of the games topics. You will see the numbers 1. 2. 3. And "Last" indicating that the Games discussion has gotten so large that it has taken up several pages. Click on the "2" and then on the subject "Mahjong Strategy" to read my post on how the game scores are calculated. |

The gong that sounds when you are about to run out of time is the most ANNOYING noise I have ever heard! Can you PLEASE find something that is more pleasing to the ear? If this is part of the "new and improved" package, I can certainly do without it. Thanks. |

After taking 20 min. to get to page 2 (because aarp.com site is so dratted slow moving from screen to screen), I did not find a strategy heading. The only email I found of your had to do with member points. How about, since you seem to know where the email message is, you might copy and paste it as a reply on this page? So frustrated with mah jongg - no matter how many matches I make, sets of 4 I get, same colors in a row I get ... after about 6-8 months playing the game daily, I cannot get near the scores that others seem to have no problem getting day after day. I know values of tiles, I know about prizes and how to get them, but none of that seems to matter. What is it that needs doing to get those 10,000 scores and more? |

I have gone thru the board over and over...........cleared the board and have 2 minutes left on the timer yet it is impossible to receive a 10,000 score. If I have 2 minutes left why does another game not load?? For the most part I have just given up on all these games because it is just frustrating. I do it to relax and have fun, not to be annoyed!! |

I am posting this here per request. I don't have the slowness you write of on AARP site so it took me at most a minute to find this post and copy it. As to scoring 10,000 or more, I've only done this a few times but can usually score in the 9,000 range if I play long enough. Keeping all the ways the game scores in mind as you play is not easy. I find that making the matches very fast is the best way to achieve a high score. Also I find that some of the configerations are easier to score highly with and I use these. I like World Snake, Twin Peaks, Celtic, and Spiral but this may be a prejudice on my part. I do think its good to play only a few configerations as you become familar with where the tiles are located and this allows you to move faster in making the matches. In order to make the leaderboard you will have to make at least 8,000 before getting your time bonus points. You will need about 2 minutes of bonus points as most of the scores in the Leaderboard are in the 9,000 range. Do not touch the little penguins on the right that hold the points. It you do you will lose some points. If there are two pairs remaining at the end of the game and one pair is the guitars that rotate the tiles-- choose the guitars first. If the rotating guitars are the last pair then the clock will continue running while your score is totaled and you will lose some time bonus points. I hope this helps. MJ Toy Chest scores in the following ways: 4 of the same tile in a row - 50 points 8 of the same suite in a row - 200 points two matches in 4 seconds - 30 points three matches in 6 seconds - 60 points four matches in 8 seconds - 90 points five matches in 10 seconds - 120 points six matches in 12 seconds - 200 points all the bears in a row - 200 points all the books in a row - 500 points 4 tiles consecutively on the same tower - 500 Shapes: Value 1 Orange Block Blue Block Red Heart Orange Heart Blue Star Lavender Star Yellow Hat Blue Hat Toys: Value 2 Bowtie Maj Purple Engine Green Engine Orange Ball Soccer Ball Red Car Gold Car Hat with propeller Bowtie Dolls: Value 3 Bug Fish Glove Number one Blue Fish Gold Fish Rainbow colored Fish Penguin Tree Books: Value 4 Green, Gold, Blue Fragile Toys: Value 5 Camera Cell Phone Guitar Present: Value 6 Present Teddy Bear: Value 7 Teddy Bear |
