I really enjoy playing Mah-Jongg but am wondering if there is an actual strategy to this game.  I must be brain dead or blind, can't seem to score the high points that other players do!  Tha

In Response to Re: Mah-Jongg Stategy??:
MJ Toy Chest scores in the following ways: 4 of the same tile in a row - 50 points 8 of the same suite in a row - 200 points two matches in 4 seconds - 30 points three matches in 6 seconds - 60 points four matches in 8 seconds - 90 points five matches in 10 seconds - 120 points six matches in 12 seconds - 200 points all the bears in a row - 200 points all the books in a row - 500  points 4 tiles consecutively on the same tower - 500 Shapes: Value 1     Orange Block     Blue Block     Red Heart     Orange Heart     Blue Star     Lavender Star     Yellow Hat     Blue Hat Toys: Value 2     Bowtie  Maj     Purple Engine     Green Engine     Orange Ball     Soccer Ball     Red Car     Gold Car     Hat with propeller     Bowtie Dolls: Value 3     Bug     Fish     Glove     Number one     Blue Fish     Gold Fish     Rainbow colored Fish     Penguin     Tree Books: Value 4     Green, Gold, Blue Fragile Toys: Value 5     Camera     Cell Phone     Guitar Present: Value 6     Present Teddy Bear: Value 7     Teddy Bear Keeping all this in mind as you play is not easy. I find that making the matches very fast is the best way to achieve a high score. Also I find that some of the configerations are easier to score highly with and I use these. I like World Snake, Twin Peaks, Celtic, and Spiral but this may be a prejudice on my part. I do think its good to play only a few configerations as you become familar with where the tiles are located and this allows you to move faster in making the matches. In order to make the leaderboard you will have to make at least 8,000 before getting you time bonus points. You will need about 2 minutes of bonus points as most of the scores in the Leaderboard are in the 9,000 range. Do not touch the little penguins on the right that hold the points. It you do you will lose some points. If there are two pairs remaining at the end of the game and one pair is the guitars that rotate the tiles-- choose the guitars first. If the rotating guitars are the last pair then the clock will continue running while your score is totaled and you will lose some time bonus points.

Thank you so much for this post.  I have been wondering about the guitars at the end and you have answered my question.  Also about the points.

I totally agree with Cherie's remarks about the games and scoring difficulty...I play all of AARP's different Mahjong games and backgammon....I play all 5 of these games everyday.  My scores on each are fairly good but come nowhere near the higher scores, and thus I question the accuracy of the scores  and I noticed on two occasions that my scores were elevated higher than what I actually earned...I think you need to overhaul the scoring summary method to get it corrected.  On the Dimensions game I love dearly, I can never get close to finishing the 3rd level!

Thanks and again I always look forward to playing.

I can understand your delema. I am in the same boat as you are. I play the Mah-Jongg Toy Chest and I haven't been able to figure out how to get extra points with those little penguins. Supposed to get all eleven, but HOW?

It's all hand-eye coordination.  I play cause it's fun.  My daughter went to the highest score possible but she's always been tops at games.

AHHH yes, Speed is the issue in Majong, I mean the further into a high score the faster your responses should be. Unfortunitly, my days of speed are over.

I don't worry about the scores. I never even paid attention to scores. I just play for fun but hope I get to a 2nd or 3rd screen. I did not realize my plays were being graded in spite of playiing it a lot.

I've always wondered what the scores are on the toys.  Now I know.  Thanks.  I cant get above 9000, and the music is awful, I always tone down.  I find Stairs the hardest.  But like all the others.
