I really enjoy playing Mah-Jongg but am wondering if there is an actual strategy to this game.  I must be brain dead or blind, can't seem to score the high points that other players do!  Tha

Okay, you posted that message over a week ago and probably if you've kept playing, I bet you're getting higher scores now.

I think the key to that mah-jonng game is the first screen, and you have to try to think one or two steps ahead of what you're clicking on, and you have to complete that first screen in one long sweep, so after the last two squares are matched, the screen briefly reads "SPEED MATCH - BONUS 32" - meaning you have matched all 32 sets of pairs one after the other, with no lagging between.  When I play that first screen, if I don't get through all 32 matches like that, like if I hesitate or slow down after, say, "SPEED MATCH - BONUS 8" or whatever, and I stop getting the bonuses, I quit the game and start over. The high scores people get are based on those multiple matches, and also the time you're saving by plowing through that first screen as efficiently as possible. So generally, I am finishing the first screen with somewhere between 15,000 and 17,000 points.

Then, on the second screen, I try to do the same for as long as I can, but I can't do it for the whole screen.  Usually I get hung up after about fifteen or twenty quick matches, and then I'm just trying to finish. But I can usually do so with enough time to finish the third screen, though it's often cutting it close.

Thank you so much for your advice!  My scores aren't any higher cause I gave up playing, too frustrating!  Will try to remember your pointers and play again.  I just discovered your reply to my post; wasn't looking in the right place.  Kept checking my original post for a reply.  Not until I did a "Mah-Jongg" search did I see what you've written.  Emotions

I play Toy Chest.  The game gets easier as you play longer and subconsciously gegin to remember the pieces.  I will keep monitoring this thread to see if other players actually have a strategy for the different boards.  Good luck!

Keeping all this in mind as you play is not easy. I find that making the matches very fast is the best way to achieve a high score. Also I find that some of the configerations are easier to score highly with and I use these. I like World Snake, Twin Peaks, Celtic, and Spiral but this may be a prejudice on my part. I do think its good to play only a few configerations as you become familar with where the tiles are located and this allows you to move faster in making the matches. In order to make the leaderboard you will have to make at least 8,000 before getting you time bonus points. You will need about 2 minutes of bonus points as most of the scores in the Leaderboard are in the 9,000 range. Do not touch the little penguins on the right that hold the points. It you do you will lose some points. If there are two pairs remaining at the end of the game and one pair is the guitars that rotate the tiles-- choose the guitars first. If the rotating guitars are the last pair then the clock will continue running while your score is totaled and you will lose some time bonus points.

Hey,
don't let the high scores fool ya... lol...
I am yukongal and have the third highest score.  Let me tell you why.  The game started to mess up one day and I kept playing with it, just to see what it would do.  Somebody on there had a very high score and I felt it was impossible to get such a high score.  Well it is!  My high score is attributed to the fact that the game was messing up one day while I was playing it and a ridiculous score showed up afterwards.. lol..  I just kept pushing hard to keep the game going and that was  the outcome..  If you have a nice score of 30 to 80 thousand you are doing great!  Keep playing because you learn the little tricks to beat your last score....

I have played Mah-Jongg gardens about 20 times so far.  Other than making the matches as fast as you can and trying to clear both patterns, what other tricks increase your score.  I have cleared both a few times and my highest score was 35000, and you don't appear to get bonus points for time left so I must be missing something that would allow me to score another 10k

I'm with you!  I consider myself to be a reasonably good gamer, but I've been stuck at 30,000 for weeks!  Wonder what I'm missing. Mah-Jongg Stategy??:
