Just to give you an idea if you decide to try backgammon...don't...you'll be wasting your time if you want a reasonably fair game.  I played 4 games yesterday...all four went the same way. I had all of my men in my home territory except 2...dice let me move 1 to safely, opponent got #2.  Opponent's  pieces were scattered all over the board, including in my home area. Opponent landed on my single unprotected piece and continued this mode until all of the oppenent pieces are close to his home  or in his home territory. Eventually I won the game by 5 to 25 points whereas it should have been 150 to 250. This same mode of operation happened in all four games...in one day.  This happens every single time I play. Impossible. My advice is leave the game alone. I had decided to give it up, but tried a couple of different strategies just to make sure the game might not be biased.  Waste of time.

Backgammon used to be one of my favorites on this site, but I, too, had to give up on it when they changed it.  Luckily, the Nabisco World site has a decent game: http://www.nabiscoworld.com/games/default.aspx

Beware...You will win nearly every game, but you don't actually win.   Still a really dumb game,
