I am a fan of swiss, but, not everyone is.
I think for a plate of fruit, you could add colby, muenster, and cheddar, and add a little swiss .

Out of curiosity I got horse radish cheese recently. I do like horseradish, and wanted to taste what this could be like. Well, my sinuses are clear, my nose is clear, and there is a red hot smoke coming out of my ears now. Seriously, it really tasted like horseradish. Good with wine.

cheeses..growing up, I thought there were only like 2 types of cheeses-AMERICAN AND SWISS.. then, I heard of Cheddar..... and Gouda.. but those were like 'foreign cheeses' -mother never knew what to do with them =other then cut then up! Times are a changing!!! Now I go to Panera Breads and order a sandwich with a cheese I never heard of but, so what???

But, as for a cheese platter... a Mild Cheddar... and Colby Jack (no jalopenos-unless you know people like that) and...if you have pepperoni on the platter, I would go with a provolone. I like swiss, but everyone else in my family will not touch it, but then again, they would not touch provolone-knowingly-that is! I have melted it in some recipes without their knowledge of what cheese it was!!!

If you are going with a spread cheese-port wines are great!!!

Yum, one of my favorite subjects.   I think any cheese would go well with fruit.  Try adding mangos and passion fruit to the platter and then add favorites like warm Brie or a heady Gorgonzola with grapes.   If you happen to have a good Deli that carries a good selection of imported cheeses as for advice there as I am sure they would be happy to offer suggestions.  Stilton is delicious also...Have a good time next time 'round...:o)

Boursin Cheese is one of my favorite w/ fruit or crackers!  Pepper jack for the sweet and spicy and Cheddar to round the other two out.
