I joined My Fitness Pal (free) in mid-March 2012 and have lost 24 lbs. as of last Friday (weigh day). I'm losing about one pound a week and feel like I'll be able to maintain it when I reach my goal weight. I already feel lots better with my weight loss so far.

I LOST 40 POUNDS at the rate of one pound a week:  low cal, low carb, small portions of heathy food every 3-4 hours..it's the glycemic index that does it.  And i still have not put any back on.

10 years ago when I was 65, I discovered the Eat Right 4 Your Type health plan and it has made a big difference in my life.  This is a health plan that is different for each blood type.  Now I understand why my husband type A and I type O react to foods differently.  According to Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo's research, type A's should follow a vegetarian diet and type O's should be meat-eaters.  Get Dr. D'Adamo's book Eat Right 4 Your Type and improve your health for the rest of your life.

A few years ago, I realized that I was doing my worst eating after dinner. That’s when my own personal “cookie monster” would get a powerful grip on my will power and derail an entire day’s worth of good efforts.

Cookie monster had many friends — brownie monster, for example.  And brownie monster occasionally enjoyed a date night with ice cream monster.
One night, an old friend called just as we finished putting the dishes into the dishwasher.  That call interrupted my usual smooth transition from dishes to dessert.

By the time I got off the phone, the clock indicated it was time for the tooth-brushing phase of the evening (which usually followed the dessert phase by about an hour).  And, by the time I remembered cookie monster still owed me one, I had no desire to sully my just-brushed teeth with more food.

“Eureka!” I had found the secret to killing my after-dinner sweet cravings — and could practice good dental health at the same time. So now, my after-dinner routine is to brush and floss before dessert.

Does it work every time?  No, but it works about four nights out of five, because I’m too lazy to brush and floss a second time — and because the taste of toothpaste usually cancels my sweet cravings.

Now, if I could just find a good chocolate-flavored toothpaste!

Weight loss is so important. Particularly for Boomers. I am the Health and Wellness Consultant on the Boomer Radio Network 760AM out of Denver, Colorado. Each Saturday morning we talk about weight loss, fitness and the obesity epidemic - The goal is to be educational and solution oriented.

Here is one of the shows recorded, focusing on the HBO special The Weight of The Nation

Changing your mindset about food is a huge step towards changing what you eat and your results.
This recording tells more.

Hope this helps!!
