So, all these years we drank diet soda, only to learn now that it was making us fat! "The Texas researchers followed 474 diet soda drinkers, 65 to 74 years of age, for almost 10 years. They found that diet soda drinkers’ waists grew 70 percent more than non-drinkers. Those who drank two or more diet sodas a day saw their waist grow five times more than people who avoided the stuff entirely." http://blog.aarp.org/2012/07/10/diet-soda-zero-calories-but-still-makes-you-fat/?intcmp=outbrain&obref=obnetwork |

In Response to Re: Healthy Eating: Red Wine sounds good to me! The Mediterranean Diet has all of these goodies! thank you for posting the reminder here! Posted by louisie I more or less go by the Mediterranean Diet as well. I think the main rule in the Mediterranean Diet (at least for weight loss purposes) is to reduce consumption of animal fats: Eat lean meats, replace butter with vegetable oil, etc. And then of course eat lots of veggies and whole grains. Pretty simple really, except that you have to say goodbye to fun foods like pizza and ice cream.

In Response to Re: Healthy Eating: Red wine is good for the health? Is it true? Posted by shoortcircuit Red wine is supposed to be good for you in moderation, for example, a glass of red wine while eating dinner or just after dinner. Do a search on Health benefits of red wine.
For example, here is a link to an article that gives the standard list of health benefits for red wine: http://www.foodpyramid.com/healthy-eating/health-benefits-of-red-wine-10045/ The article starts out:
"There is a saying in the Mediterranean that a glass of red wine after dinner is good for the heart. Going on this, some scientists even argue that the reason why most Mediterraneans, especially Corsicans, live a long life is that their diet is supplemented by red wine. While there is no doubt that too much of alcohol is never good for anyone, why is there then such a big hype about the health benefits of red wine? Doctors have the following to say on the matter.
