Effective 05-Jan-2012 Comcast charges additional fees for Turner Classic Movie (TCM) channel!

This breaks my heart for many reasons:

TCM was one of the first "cable" channels (thereby helping build the monopoly that is now Comcast)
TCM is watched by a majority of AARP members
If they've changed the line up in Denver to charge for TCM, how long before my mom has to decide to pay for toliet paper or TCM?

Contacting TCM but just want to float this because it really pisses me off; Comcast does own our "US" world; are we going to continue to allow that?

Thanks for listening and sorry for any offense!

This is a sneaky way for Comcast to give all of their customers with the Basic plan a ten dollar rate hike without going through the usual processes.   They sent out a postcard in December that was "designed to be overlooked."  It contained some info about changes in the channel lineup.  The last sentence mentioned the move of TCM from their Basic to Preferred tier.  But the entire postcard had such small text that most people probably threw it out.  Funny, Comcast hasn't mentioned the TCM change in any of their advertising!
