Actually media are a bit insulting to Americans. They kind of think we are not able to  know what is important  to us, want to engage us in silly things so we are pleased with reality despite foreclosures, unemployment or inflation.

Some TV programs are better=more honest, than others. Anderson COOPER of CNN, Jon Stewart of Comedy Central, Bill Maher,  or Judge Napolitano and Neil Cavuto of Fox.
but Hannity?Wallace? nope

Anyway - what do you think about tv role in politics? should it still be entertaining ("news" we are shown or if election of OUR leader as a reality show) or more informative (and definitely less biased as we have seen with Howard Dean and Ron Paul)?

Wowa there, WHAT economic plans?  Your not referring to the various candidate's bumper sticker slogans are you?  I have not heard ANY plans.

We have to face the realities of the "free market".  The media is a business whose only goal is to make money.  Gone are the days of journalistic integrity and reporting the facts.  One more item concern, we have not gotten into the Presidential election cycle yet, all this entertainment is coming from the primaries and I suspect the "reporting" will get much worse when the Presidential cycle begins.

Not sure in the public media that reporting was ever objective only reporting facts versus giving slanted views in the way they are reported. A big difference now is that during the primary of one party there were some debates presenting some discussions amongst the candidates. This coverage is much better than what we look back and there were no debates. Even if there might have been some more emphasis on some candidates than others, it gave each person a chance to speak in front of the people. Personally I think they should make these debates mandatory for any candidate for president.
