In Response to Make debates mandatory: I think the debates are informative and should become mandatory for all candidates that run for the presidency whether it be for the primary or the presidential election. Posted by JimR45 I agree and the TV Stations (using the PUBLIC airways) should broadcast them free in prime tiem. I also think the debates for state govenorships should be mandatory and broadcast free. |

Posted by TommieToo Your suggestion of Govenorships makes sense to me and I agree, The broadcasts could be done on major networks in addition to public broadcasting. Networks are given airwaves so I think we have the right to demand them, We should also add federal senators since they represent a whole state. People need to know more about a candidate, and for me commercials are typically not that informative. We need to see these officials questioned in public. |

Posted by TommieToo Agreed, Debates should be mandatory, and they should not be paid for by contributions from corporations who are interested in getting money and benefits from the President, at our expense. We have to get away from this horrible hold by companies on our government! |

It should be time mandated for the good of the nation on broadcasts that reach very wide audiences. We may also want to have moderators that are more neutral which is not something you may depend will come from our news reporters. Also more questions should come from the public. |
