My favorite is Closed Case Files, where they show the throwback photos of the victims of the case.
Then, there is CSI, which does a good job of making you feel like you know the characters of the show.
Are you hooked on any of these?

All of the above it's the only left on tv that isn't assanine or insulting my intellagence . I have never in all my 65 yrs. seen so much garbage on TV. comidey shows that arn't funny just down right stuped ! Talk shows that say tha same thing over and over non stop and say nothing just rant & rave trying to get every one upset one way or another . I spend $133.80 a mounth for phone TV & internet and can not figure how to run all 100% and guess I never will just when I think I'm starting to they change every thing around or add something that I know nothing about ! If it wasen't for my wife I would throw it all out the window and save myself some money and a lot of PEACE OF MIND !

You have a point about television , especially since so many channels are ads , over and over again. I would check with my neighbors to see if there is a better , less expensive way to bundle your tv, computer and phone.

My wife and I both enjoyed Cold Cases and we are still not sure why they took that program off the air though you can see reruns. I have only briefly watched CSI which struck me as gruesome and have not bothered to follow up with the stories. We do enjoy Mentalist which takes a somewhat novel approach using the talents of one who use to scam people until he lost his wife and now he acts as a consultant with a keen eye for picking people's expressions, etc. to work on a crime. Another odd take is Harry's Law which was better in its first year depending on a small store front shoe store/lawyer. It lost some of the interesting parts when it took on more of a corporate look picking up other lawyers.

Fortunately there is tvland and a few others where you can watch reruns of some better shows. I still enjoy Bob Newhart, but wish they would also show his series in Conneticut. The "reality shows" makes me question the intelligence of the American public.

You are so right about reality shows, and intelligence(?) . The view of American culture shown by shows like Bridezilla, is so very negative and debasing of Americans .
Public television is a bright light in that darkness, though, and could even be better if more people supported it.
And, NPR does a great job of reporting the whole story for news items.
Do you like public television? or NPR?

With cable I have access to a number of very informative programs, history channel, etc.  At one time public television was without commercials but they have so many fund raisers even interrupting some of their own programs I do not watch it as much as I did at one time, but they have good broadcasts that our worhwhile.

I do not listen to the radio very much. I generally listen to CNN which is liberally biased, but the CNN broadcast does have excellent coverage on major news stories. I also enjoy 60 minutes which is one of the better programs on regular television. Much of my news gathering is done on the internet. Used correctly the Internet is a library at your fingertips.

It is a shame there is no longer any good variety show on television. They were some of the major broadcasts in years past and are visibly absent now.

I agree, the news on the internet is easy to use, and has the whole story, instead of the short bits of information on TV news.
And, the variety shows of the past were entertaining, but, today, they are about about rudeness, and people who have low cultue.
How about this oldie?

One of the worst hosts for a variety show was Ed Sullivan because he was so stiff and many joked about it, but he had some of the best talent perform on his show.
