I was wondering if anyone knows of a place that I might find Oliver Nelson's Jazzhattan Suite. I have looked but so far no luck not even one song on YouTube. I had it on vinyl but when I moved years ago I was missing a few things besides records. Thanks if you have any info.

Jazz is an extension of classical music in the sense that it results in the greatest musicians at their instruments.
I must admit, I grew up with progressive, West Coast, innovative jazz. Stan Kenton, Dave Brubeck, Hermosa Beach Lighthouse Allstars, as well as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, etc., etc. Also, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaugn, June Christy, -----------------------------------------------------the best soloists at their 'instruments'.
Unfortunately, except in certain quarters, it isn't as popular these days as the electronic -thump of current 'music'.
Go back and take a listen.

Jazz is everywhere, you just have to know where the musicians are.
Here in Delray Beach Florida we have the Arts Garage, 52 weeks of
Jazz, Soul and good times. A small intimate venue, always packed
with jazz and music enthisiasts byob and food and be prepared for
a great time. The musicians come from everythwere and have
play with "well known" greats yet are always great in themselves.

yes. Jazz is wonderful. And it is truly creative. Played by a top jazz artist the music will transport you to the heavens.

I was a symphony musician but didn't limit myself to just classical music. There is no sense in doing that and people who do don't realize what the are missing.

I love to listen to Smooth Jazz. My favorites are Brian Culbertson, Nelson Rangell, Boney James, Paul Hardcastle and a new and inspiring young man from CT called Vincent Ingala.

boyoboyoboy! What great links y'all provided...Took me back to college days, dancing around the little coffeehouse, post beatnik days, pre hippie days. The Oscar Peterson link led to Herbie paying homage to my soul sister Joni (yes, Mitchell a la Mingus), then to Miles, who said everything that needed to be said with "So What,"and Monk who still teases my brain and makes me dance (saw him at Austin Jazz Festback in the late 60's, along with Cannonball and Nat Adderly, then there's Basie, who don't say nuthin' but he sure says it good, and Brubeck and Kenton and, and, and......
Jazz is still fresh and innovative, still resonates with intelligence and soul, Y'all gave me a great evening of great music. Thanks!
