The song is so poetic, and it has the uncanny ability to tug on an array of emotions. It also has an underlying tensoin of good versus evil, carried out through society by unwitting participants. Great song. A lot of the inn keepers in my circle at http://www.bescover.com are fans, as most innkeepers are from our generation. |

In Response to Re: Don McLean's 'American Pie': Pretty good job of reading the song. So far as I can tell, it gets all the main elements, as well as most of the lesser ones, right. One comparatively small point that's not discussed too often: "When the Jester sang for the KIng and Queen . . ."--obviously Dylan and Elvis, but who does anyone think the Queen is?
