I used to do some ballroom dancing (Swing, Foxtrot) down in the Washington, DC area. I was surprised to see modern Big Bands alive and well and playing the classics at venues like the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo. I was never really into that music before I took up dancing (the Big Band era was too far before my time), but in fact it was fun to hear Big Band music live, especially once I knew the dances that went with it.
