There was an interesting article in the New York Times today about the trend toward more grown-up movies with more story line than special effects. tp://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/24/movies/older-faces-on-screen-draw-an-overlooked-crowd.html?ref=movies So I'm taking this opportunity to plug an independent film we made recently starring Zach Gilford, Amber Heard, Kathleen Quinlan, Dallas Roberts, William Devane and William Hurt, called "The River Why" based on the novel of the same name. It has won a number of awards on the festival circuit. Having produced mostly documentary, corporate and non-profit films in my career, I took on my first narrative feature film after I reached the AARP eligibility age. Quite an experience. Great to learn new things. Tough to walk into certain Hollywood meetings and have people assume your someone's visiting mother and not the producer. But I digress. Our film tells a beautiful, thoughtful story, without a lot of effects and features the exquisite scenery of Oregon. Please check it out. www.theriverwhy.com thanks, Kristi |
