Movies for grownups?

<p class="MsoNormal">Avatar, Titanic, and Marvel’s The Avengers may be the highest grossing films of all time, however there are plenty of other great movies recommended by members of this forum. Watch movie trailers and more in this entertaining message board!</p>

Does that mean lots of blood and gore? Or scenes of sex with four letter word monologues? To be honest, I haven't seen or heard of ANY movies in 2011 that I felt might hold my interest for more than 3

Movies for grownups?

Does that mean lots of blood and gore? Or scenes of sex with four letter word monologues?
To be honest, I haven't seen or heard of ANY movies in 2011 that I felt might hold my interest for more than 30 minutes, except maybe 'War Horse" only because of the beautful horse, Not any of the two legged actors.

I havn't been inside a movie house for over 20 years because I hate sitting on spilled drinks, or walking on pop corn and gum! My wife has rented a few over the years, but none were as good as the books I choose to read!

It appears to me that most movies are not really for grown-ups as much as anyone who needs blank minded entertainment, who don't need an imagination!

I admit I don't 'get' todays movie plots, if any, and don't really see any real talent in acting. Maybe I just enjoy a good book to much. Go figure!

I am very disappointed in today's movies. I don't like horror movies with all the blood and guts. I espeically don't like how
they take great old movies and do remakes which are absolutely horrible. The acting stinks and they seem to botch up the story line somewhere along the way.
I'm fairly selective what I see in the movie theaters. Some movies just have to be seen on the big screen. I believe the last movie I saw in the theater was Secretariat and it was excellent.
For the most part I wait till they are available for free on On Demand or Netflix.

I like movies with lots of action and plenty of blood after all is not real. For those who don't like going to the movies there's Broadway show's the wife and I saw Jersey Boys it's a pretty good show. Also off broadway We have seen Platanos and collar green also a very good show.

There are good movies 'out there' that are suitable for grown-ups. You just have to search for them! If you go to a movie and the theatre is dirty or in poor repair, REPORT IT! With the price of tickets nowadays, you DO NOT have to settle for a dirty theatre.

(If you haven't been to the movies in 20 years, then perhaps you should try them again! Senior matinee prices are often affordable.)
