Hello all! My name is Greg, and I am a 51 year-old director in Charlotte, NC. My production company is currently filming a documentary about the many social, psychological and physiological benefits that seniors enjoy thanks to their participation in the theatre arts. We are profiling a group from Knoxville, TN called The Silver Stage Players that writes and produces work of social significnace to seniors. Their plays deal with topics like the loss of a spouse, facing retirement, and ageism with grace and humor. It is our hope that the finished project will find a home on public television and enjoy national distribution. We think the story is a great way to inspire seniors to a life of engagement and to educate everyone who sees it about the great benefits of the arts. If you're interested in learning more, I invite you to visit us at the link below to see a teaser and to find out how you can support this project. http://www.indiegogo.com/TuscaroraFilmsSSP If you have any specific questions or just want to chat about the project, I would love to hear your thoughts! |

I work for the film production company that is producing the documentary, but you can find pictures and a link to their profile here: http://www.wildthymeplayers.org/silver-stage-players/ We agree that there are so many fun and interesting people in the theatre community. It is a big part of the reason why we wanted to profile them. To "meet" the performers a bit more, head over to the link below and check out the trailer for the documentary in the "Gallery" section. There are snippets from interviews as well as some rehearsal/performance footage. http://www.indiegogo.com/TuscaroraFilmsSSP In Response to Re: Documentary about the benefits of Senior Theatre: I don't live near there, but, I do love the theater. And, I think community theaters are great ways to have fun, meet people, and explore the world ! Good luck on your theater group! Keep us posted! Do you have any photos of your performers?
