I live rural it is 47 miles to the nearest town to watch a movie.Then OMG the cost, last movies I went to was at the cheap time I paid $6 for the movie and $11 for a pop & popcorn. Plus the $30 for the gas over and back total $47 for the movie. I had seen on one of the shopping channels a box for your TV it was called a ROKU it streams shows to your TV from your computer but you have to have wireless internet in your house least I think so. My son does all my computer stuff etc..had bought me for Christmas 2 years ago a router for my netbook so I could go to the couch or lay down etc..and be any where in my house and still get on-line. So I thought I would try this ROKU. So I looked at Wal-Mart and they had one of the Roku's for $58 so I bought it and I installed it myself. I was so proud of myself. There is like over 300 chanels and I would say 90% or so of these are free. I told my son about my purchase and my son said "Mom get Netflix it is $8 you will really like it" So I added Netflix for $8 a month Now I get movies it is like having this huge video libary available through your remote filled withTV showes, movies, cartoons, documentries etc... my great nephews can watch cartoon and shows they wanna watch when they come to visit. So now for $8 a month I get so much enjoyment from my TV without the high cost of cable.I am just sharing this if your like me watching your money and have wireless this might be something you want to look into. You can teach and old dog new tricks I am still learning |
