As a writer interested in all sorts of topics, I find wikipedia editing a great hobby. I'm trying to get more older and retired people involved. So I'm helping run this workshop. Please come or tell me if you'd be interested in a future workshop. Details below: Saturday, February 25th Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (40 minute lunch) Martin Luther King Library in DC 901 G St. NW, in the Library Lab, Street Level floor. Directions at http://dclibrary.org/mlk Register today. Limited seating. Please RSVP: workshops@wikidc.org Or email us with any questions. Learn how to edit Wikipedia! - “the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.” Or beef up your skills if you've already tried it. Participate in Wikimedia DC’s one day Workshop on how to edit the world's most popular encyclopedia. You can improve its content and accuracy on your favorite topics. And it's fun! A great new hobby for writers, researchers, bloggers, and those with a little extra time who want to improve their writing and researching skills and help contribute to the sum of the world's knowledge. Experienced Wikipedia editors will show you the ropes and answer your questions about editing, formatting, policy and collaboration with others. We will have a special discussion for those involved in advocacy on any issue so they can learn how to work within Wikipedia guidelines on neutrality and "conflict of interest," thereby becoming better editors and even better advocates. We know that the skills you learn focusing in on your current area of interest will be carried over into the articles you edit in other areas. Once you become a "Wikipedian" you can't help but improve such articles! All you have to do to join the workshop is bring your laptop, notebook or tablet. (Outlets available.)
