Bring your favorite poems and let's share !
Who is your favorite poet?

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

My favorite form of poetry is Haiku (Japanese poetry). In its English form it is 3 lines with the first and last line being 5 syllables and the middle line being 7 syllables. In content they usually relate to nature or the seasons. For instance if you go out on a cold winter day and notice the ice crystals formed on the pond this may also evoke feelings of sadness or coldness in your own life and these can be woven together in the Haiku poem. Although haiku are only 3 lines I like to put sets of them together making longer poems. Not a correct form but I find that it works for me.

Lovely Lizards Lurk
Little Limey Leprechauns
Lounging on Spring Leaves

My heart leaps forward
Fear, saddness all forgotten
Watching the lizards

I came across this poem by Roald Dahl that I really loved:

A woman who my mother knows
Came in and took off all her clothes.
Said I, not being very old,
'By golly gosh, you must be cold!'
'No, no!' she cried. 'Indeed I'm not!
I'm feeling devilishly hot!'

(The book I found it in was Romantic Poetry: 150 Poems for Love and Romance)
