In Response to Re: A Great Read: First of all I think a great read is one that holds your attention all the through to the end. I love to read any and all mysterys. Not the Stephen King types but the ones where they solve the mystery. I like to try to solve it along with the the character or characters. Posted by kelleyg This is my first time here. I have read " The Cat Who ..." a series by Lilian Jackson Braun. They are fun mystery/detective stories.

In Response to Re: A Great Read: I recently read two very good books. Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese and Edward Sawtelle by David Wroblewski Posted by abby1234 Yes, Cutting for Stone was so well written. I loved it. Am having a little difficulty getting into Edward Sawtelle. I'll keep at it. Thanks

In Response to Re: A Great Read: I enjoy reading legal thrillers. Anything about the law, lawyers, PI is a nice read to me! I love books by Phillip Margoolin Y Andrea Kane. These are great authors. Posted by GRenShea Take a look at my post here dated August 16, 2011. I'm a diehard fan of Wilkie Collins, a novelist who wrote in Victorian England roughly from 1850-1870. You may find his style very different from today's authors, but he is a marvelous story teller, still in print. You said "anything about the law" and that's a favorite subject for Collins, too. Woman In White, probably his best novel, digs into laws about wills and marriage, spiced up with a captivating story line and of course, characters you'll love to hate. Dan |
