In Response to Re: A Great Read: Just recently retired and am reading like crazy, i love books, i'll read anything except romance and westerns. Stephen King's new 11-22-63 is great, typical King, lots of nostalgia for us baby boomers. Very intriguing. The Millenium Trilogy is awesome. Anything by Paul Austin, Laura Lippman, Dean Koontz, John Irving (A Prayer for Owen Meany) Posted by tessaloom Laura Lippman is fantastic, both her standalone books and her Tess Monaghan series. |

In Response to Re: A Great Read: I usually don't go in for the longer novel, but Ken Follett has started a new Trilogy based on the 20th Century. The first book is Fall of Giants. This story commences just as WWI is heating up. Very well plotted and written Posted by johnnya1935 I've just finished reading it myself. I thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the way he fleshes out the detail in historical events which most of us weren't aware of, in a way that engages us with the moment. It's a good read!

In Response to Re: A Great Read: Has anyone read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? Would love to discuss this series. Posted by dw9348 It sounds as though you are recommending it. I order books from the library online, so I will add it to my list. ![]() |
